Madame Blavatski Overdrive beat Radiohead to the punch earlier this year (unfortunately they didn’t get quite the same exposure though!) by offering their latest album as a completely free download (not even a 45p admin fee) with a request to pay them whatever you wanted if you liked it. I’m not convinced of this as a business model for any band that doesn’t already have the fanbase or media profile of Radiohead, but good luck to MBO for giving it a spin – please pass this on to anyone who you think will like them, and also tell them they got there first!
